Today's meeting
11/06/09: 11:45 a.m. – Chickasaw Country Club – Program: Chuck Skypeck, co-owner of Boscoe's, will discuss micro-breweries and Memphis's own Ghost River micro-brew. Program coordinator: Jim Crone

In 1885, Memphis first tapped the now famous Memphis Sands Aquifer. Recharged by the Ghost River's fragile wetlands, the aquifer has supplied Memphis with a steady and consistent supply of excellent drinking water ever since.

Ghost River Brewing knows that "great water makes great beer." And some of the greatest drinking water on earth is available right here in Memphis, TN. Brewing locally guarantees that every handcrafted, full-flavored Ghost River Ale is the freshest beer available . . . and when it comes to flavor, freshness means everything!

Ghost River Brewing supports the Wolf River Conservancy by donating a portion of the proceeds of every barrel sold. Help Ghost River Brewing and the Wolf River Conservancy protect our local, natural resources and the quality of our famous drinking water.

Christmas Party and Silent Auction
This year's annual Christmas Party and Silent Auction will be held on Saturday, December 12 at the University Club featuring the MPD Peacemakers as our after-dinner entertainment. For those who are not familiar with the group, the MPD Peacemakers is a quartet of the finest singing voices in the Memphis police department.

Here’s how you can help to make this event a resounding success: Attend the event! Mark this date on your calendar and plan to bring friends and family. Actively participate by collecting auction items – we need interesting and useful items at all price ranges, so please help look for donated items from vendors, friends or people you do business with. A couple of big-ticket items have already been committed. Marty Petrusek has announced that he and his wife, Debbie, will donate another of their fabulous Italian dinners with different wines served throughout the multi-course feast. This item is always a crowd-pleaser. Bill Matthews plans to donate a week's stay at his beautiful San Destin, Florida condo.

Wouldn’t it be terrific if every one of the members in our club would donate at least one item for this year’s Silent Auction? All price ranges will be gratefully accepted. Please direct any questions or comments to Jim Crone, chair for the event.

Floyd Fund winner's pot
The pot is standing at $257.00 as we go into ticket sales for this week's raffle. Last week on Oct. 30 Larry Conn held the winning ticket – and drew the king of diamonds--- another losing card. The Queen of Hearts is what we are all looking for and the lady continues to elude the draw. There are now 43 cards in the deck which makes for better odds of drawing the Queen of Hearts.

On another note, Sgt. at Arms John May was again in rare form. John had a regular and a “loaded” pair of dice and one of the victims going on the Wheel got to pick a pair and roll. The dice rolled a “7” and that is what those on the Wheel owed for each miss or infraction. A total $28.00 was collected from the Wheelies
