Hey, Mr. Augustine a message from Vinh, one of our club's scholarship recipients in 2008
Hey Mr. Augustine, it's Vinh. I just want to shoot you an email on how things have been since it's been a while. I've been back from school for nearly a month now, but the summer so far has been a bore---especially I've become indisposed to go anywhere during the daytime due this crazy heat. Has it always been like this during the summers? I really can't remember.
Oh, also the jobless factor is also a cause of my boredom. I went to the Oak Court Mall a couple of days ago and applied to some places; now just waiting for a phone call (haha). But with that aside, it's been really relaxing without classes. I was planning to take some summer classes but decided against it because it's probably too late to sign up and I probably should take this time to recuperate for next fall.
Freshmen year was great; I'm really loving and missing the campus right now (and the reasonable cool weather). The last quarter, Spring, was not so great though...I really struggled with Gen Chem. 122 and Math 151 (Calc.). The "good" news is that I "passed" Chem, albeit it was a C. The bad news is that I totally bombed Math 151, and I will have to retake it next quarter. However, my overall GPA for the freshmen year is a 3.081, so I did pretty solid. The bright side to this is that OSU has a "Freshmen forgiveness" system; that means if I retake 151 and pass, my previous fail grade would be replaced my new grade and that would overall raise my GPA.
Oh, I also have what you might find good news. Due my never-ending stress with Chemistry, I'm switching ---or am in the process of switching---my major to Business, specializing in International Business and aiming to minor in Spanish and, if possible, Music. I have to take three pre-Business courses before I can officially switch, which should be no later than the end of my sophomore year.
Sorry for the long essay! Hope you're doing well and I''m game for pretty much any Rotary events coming up if I can make it to them.
Vinh
PS. OSU has a new email system now. You can still send emails to nguyen.839@osu.edu and they will be forwarded to this one. But I think they will officially discontinue the @osu.edu sometime in the future. The new one is nguyen.839@buckeyemail.osu.edu
