Today’s meeting
11:45 a.m. – Chickasaw Country Club. Program: Victor L Robilio, CEO & author of The Way It Was, a book recounting first-hand veterans’ experiences during battles and combat in WWII. Accompanying Mr. Robilio is veteran Col. George Livers. Program coordinator: Laura House. Jerry Daws will introduce our speaker on behalf of the vacationing Laura.

The larger-than-life experiences of nearly 30 WWII veterans, a vast majority representing the Mid-South area, will be preserved for future generations thanks to author Victor L. Robilio, Jr. whose book, The Way It Was, recounts the terror and triumph of the “Greatest Generation.” The book officially launches Nov. 2, a befitting a prelude to Veteran’s Day on Nov. 11.

“The WWII book represents an investment of time spanning three decades,” said Robilio. “In total, I collected more than 200 oral histories from our country’s veterans through my TV program, Winds of History.” The book became a culmination of that investment.

An East Memphian, Robilio maintains a second home in Oxford, Miss. His first book-signing will be Nov. 2 at Square Books in Oxford, 111 Courthouse Square, beginning at 5 p.m. Two WWII vets will attend this signing: A Flying Tiger and a Marine dive-bomber pilot. Robilio’s Mighty Mississippi book also is available at Square Books.
