Mission: We grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Since 1980 the Make-A-Wish Foundation® has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of the Mid-South was founded in 1986 with the granting of Tony’s wish, which was to sing on stage with Tammy Faye Baker. He and his family visited Heritage USA and his wish came true. Since that time, the Mid-South chapter and its supporters have made dreams come true for more than 1,750 children. The mid-south chapter covers the territories of Arkansas, west Tennessee and north Mississippi.

Highlights of the Board of Directors February meeting
The Board of Directors met on Monday evening, February 13.

sponsor is Randolph Reeves. We welcome DeeDee as the newest member of
the Rotary Club of Memphis Central! She will be officially inducted into the
club at a future meeting.
The Board voted to establish a new committee to study the
feasibility of adding a fund-raiser to the annual club calendar. President
John will request that a couple of newer members step up to the plate to
co-chair the committee and to make recommendations for
venues/cost/set-up/administration of a ice cream “slice on a stick” product
which would be sold at designated events in Shelby County.

chair of the silent auction.
Last Week's meeting
We held the 4th annual joint meeting with
the local Cook Chapter of the Air Force Association at the Tennessee Air
National Guard facility on Democrat Road. Approximately 100 people braved the
inclement weather to attend this special meeting where we enjoyed a delicious
box lunch catered by the Castle Retail Group (Rick James).
The gathering started off with the color
guard from Raleigh-Egypt school presenting the colors followed by a brief
business meeting. Thanks to Jerry Daws for serving as program
coordinator. Jerry is a member of both groups---our Rotary Club of Memphis
Central and the Air Force Association. Jerry introduced our president, John
May, who made several announcements regarding club activities. Jim Van
Eynde, president of the Air Force Association, Cook Chapter, introduced
Col. Garry Hicks, Mission Support Group Commander for the 164th
Airlift Wing (TANG). Col. Hicks gave a presentation about the new guard
facility under construction now at Swinnea and Winchester. Following the
program, buses transported everyone who wished to tour the C-5 to the plane.
Because of the inclement weather, we experienced a delay in the bus arrival.
Nevertheless, 15-20 members in our group enjoyed the special C-5 tour.
