The next meeting of the club's Board of Directors is scheduled
for Monday, February 13 at 5:30 p.m. at R. E. Linkous' office. All board
members and officers should plan to attend. As always, all club members are
invited to attend the Board meeting. It's a great way to learn more about club
administration and it's also an easy way to make up a missed meeting.
Important dates to keep in mind
02/17/06: The Past Presidents' committee, chaired
by David Luiken, will present its recommended slate of club officers for
the 2006-2007 Rotary year. The general membership will vote to either approve
or reject the committee's recommendation.
04/13-04/14-04/15: GSE team from southern Germany
will visit Memphis. Our club has been asked
to host the team. GSE team members represent several
professions: pharmacist, banker, lawyer, software developer and a general
manager for a city construction company. Contact Dick Wieland if you
would like to serve as a host or help coordinate the GSE team visit. (Alternate
dates for the GSE visit are April 27-28-29.)
04/21-04/22: District Conference. Memphis Hilton.
Sponsoring organization: Germantown Rotary Club. Our club’s Jean Patterson
has been asked by District Governor Vijay to serve again as chair of the
silent auction.
Last Week's meeting
Penelope Aviotte (President John’s mother-in-law) and Michael
Smith of the Memphis Police Department spoke on how to "Protect yourself from
financial fraud". They answered many questions from the floor and also
distributed informative brochures.
Floyd McDaniel was the winner of the weekly money raffle
benefitting the Scholarship Fund.
Co-chairs Rick James and Randolph Reeves gave an
update on the most recent count of monies collected from our members for the
January Food Drive. To date $950.00 has been received. This has been one of
our most successful auxilliary fund-raisers. Thanks to all who participated!
