Did you listen to Karen on Wednesday morning?
Karen Shea was the guest for a ten-minute spot on WKIM radio FM 98.9 at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. Her topic was how to rebound in the current economy. After listening to Karen’s advice your editor suggests that we book Karen for a future Rotary club meeting. She was both informative and humorous.

Last week’s meeting
President Jack Robinson welcomed us to the 1,580th meeting of our club. Bert Canfield gave the invocation and led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Randolph Reeves introduced two guests---Krissie Heuer, a frequent and always welcome visitor and guest of Bill Matthews; also visiting the club was Betty Loveless, guest of Laura House and mother of Keith Loveless, the speaker of the day.

President Jack informed us that District Governor King Rogers will undergo surgery on Thursday, January 22nd. Our thoughts and prayers are with DG King at this time.

President Jack also announced that February is designated as Rotary Awareness Month. Our club wants to promote Rotary Awareness. Members with ideas of how to best do this are encouraged to contact President Jack.

Sgt. at Arms Daniel Augustine managed to find one victim for the Wheel---Larry Conn. Daniel spun a $5.00 space for the weekly fine. Larry was glad to ante up for his missed meetings. If you miss a meeting (or meetings) of our club, we encourage you to make up your miss at another nearby Rotary club or go online at the Rotary International website to visit the club there. It’s www.rotaryeclubone.org

Carlton Smith collected $60 for the weekly Floyd’s Fund to benefit our Scholarship project. The winning number was #673905 held by Randolph Reeves. Randolph took home $29.00 and $31.00 went into the Floyd’s Fund bank account.

After his introduction Keith Loveless, manager of the FedEx Sales Development and Education department, gave an inspiring presentation focused on creating and maintaining positive relationships in today’s business world. Bottom line: any individual or company can adapt the FedEx Purple Promise to fit their own situation and needs. “I have a role in making every experience outstanding.”

At the conclusion of his presentation, Keith gave away two copies of an inspirational book about the FedEx promise that had been autographed by well known FedEx executives.. Club members holding the winning tickets were Leroy Dahler and David Luiken.
