AUGUST
IS MEMBERSHIP-EXTENSION MONTH
GOVERNOR'S
CORNER
Please read and heed what Lee Whipple has to convey. Lee has sponsored six new Rotarians in the past two years and they have stuck. He has a motorized wheel chair and a van with a lift. If he can do it from a wheel chair, we should be able to sponsor one this year on two good legs. Lee was stricken with Polio at the age of 18. Lee Is a District 6800 Membership Ambassador Extraordinary. DG Dick Wieland
Tom Michael and I recently led three membership clinics in Oxford, Mississippi at Presidents Elect Training Sessions and the District 6800 Conference. Preparing for and experiencing these clinics produced these thought provoking, break through facts and techniques. Most District 6800 club s are netting membership losses because many otherwise good Rotarians are reticent or afraid to become lightly involved. We, habitually, do not invite guests to visit our clubs A few clubs are netting gains in membership because some Rotarians write down the names of prospective members and check off the names after they invite the prospects to visit their clubs. My personal Experience: with the most recent eighteen invitations I extended to the prospective members produced twelve visitors and six new members.
Break through new method: Your club President should appoint a few strong/effective Membership Builders. Each Membership Builder commits to invite three prospective members during the year. Your club will grow! No Membership Chairman is necessary. No Membership Committee is necessary. OPTION: Several Membership Builders may be appointed; but not serve on the Membership Committee. For any Membership Builder who has not brought a visitor within six months, the President should appoint another Membership Builder.
Some clubs with increasing
memberships pay for two meals for each visiting Membership prospect.
Some clubs with growing memberships offer two years memberships for the Price
of a one year membership
Some clubs with growing memberships give $100.00 off the annual dues of a
member who sponsors a new member who remains in
the club one year.
Some clubs with growing memberships invite new member family to a regular meeting, Family Day Meetings and invite families to attend indoctrination-Induction Ceremonies, Other clubs hold Family Night Parties to involve new members' families,
